This month, we are proud to be celebrating our 15th birthday!
That’s right, we officially reached our crystal milestone.
For fifteen years, we’ve been a leading IT company in Ipswich, East Anglia and London, working with businesses like yours to improve their technical infrastructure. Our IT support services have transitioned from routine helpdesk support to enhanced cybersecurity services and IT consultancy.
Our evolution as a business matches the evolution of IT systems.
The work that our talented team do each day is far beyond what we imagined 15 years ago. And it’s exciting to us to think about how much our managed IT solutions might continue to change over the next 15 years.
When we first launched in 2009, our founder, Craig Debenham, had the vision to blend complex technical knowledge with clarity. He wanted to help businesses in Ipswich understand which IT systems would work for them and why. What’s more, he believed that offering high levels of customer care and attention was just as important as providing exceptional technical expertise.
And we’re pleased to say that these values remain as true today as they did back in 2009.
Taking a trip down memory lane
In honour of our birthday, we thought we would take a quick look back to see which technologies and IT software were popular back in 2009.
Windows 7 was launched!
In October 2009, Windows 7 was launched as the successor to Windows Vista. The software featured a newly redesigned taskbar, which allowed you to ‘pin’ applications to it. It also had updated versions of applications such as Internet Explorer 8, Windows Media Player, and Windows Media Centre. Windows 7 officially reached its end of life at the start of this year when Microsoft withdrew further support or security updates.
365 Exchange Online came out
Microsoft launched a version of Exchange Online the year before. This was part of the Business Productivity Online Standard Suite, and businesses around the world used it.
Google released Chrome 3
Just a year after it first launched, Google quickly made updates to make Chrome more popular with users. Chrome 3 was launched in September 2009, offering faster speeds and customisable tabs. It also allowed users to choose between Incognito or Public browsing mode, giving you the chance to work online in private.
Microsoft launched Bing as it’s search engine.
In 2009, Microsoft launched its own search engine, Bing. Although it could never compete with Google, which remains as dominant today as it did back then, it did succeed in taking market share away from Yahoo.
Smartphone technology took off
Although the first iPhone was released two years prior, 2009 could be declared the year that smartphone technology took off. In addition to Apple products, consumers flocked to Blackberry and Android devices as the App market grew exponentially. For the first time, consumers realised that they could use their phones for more than just calls or texts. Instead, they could download games, tools, and other widgets to stay connected.
2009 was the year of social media
In addition to smartphone technology, 2009 saw the boom of social media with platforms such as Facebook and Twitter growing in huge popularity amongst mainstream audiences. It was also the year that news became broadcast in ‘real-time’. For the first time, it was possible to discover news as it happened.
Getting started with Azure
Azure may have been announced in 2008, but it received its official launch in February 2010. It was initially called Windows Azure but was rebranded by Microsoft Azure in 2014.
We’re excited to look ahead to the future
This year has been incredibly exciting for us. Not only did we relocate to our purpose-built office in Hintlesham, on the outskirts of Ipswich, but we’ve also launched new services, brought on new clients, and grown our team.
It’s incredible to look back and see how IT software has changed and how quickly technologies have evolved. It’s hard to imagine a world where we couldn’t work from home or have the option to save our data directly to the Cloud.
While we knew how important it was to keep ourselves safe online, it was almost unprecedented to imagine how important our cybersecurity services would become.
These days, much of our time is spent working with clients to help them stay resilient to the ever-growing dangers of hackers and data protection. As automation and AI start to filtrate our cyber defence services, allowing us to predict and prevent problems, we anticipate that our role as information security consultants in Ipswich will become increasingly important.
But within everything we do, we still pride ourselves on providing IT Management services that can adapt and grow as your business develops.
From integrating SaaS IT solutions to organising your Cyber Essentials certification while proactively updating and upgrading your hardware and software, we’re confident that our IT solutions and consulting services will continue to support your business growth.
As we look to the future, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our clients for their continued support, as well as celebrate our hardworking team of IT technicians.
