Charity climb raises over £1400 for Suffolk 100, a fantastic local initiative.

Did you know that last month our team swapped helpdesk tickets for walking boots and waterproofs to climb Mount Snowdon? This is the highest peak in Wales, reaching a height of 1,085 metres.

We’re incredibly proud of ourselves, not just for the physical achievement, but because we used it as an opportunity to raise funds for Suffolk 100, which is a key initiative launched by the Suffolk Community Foundation.

Why we chose to get involved in the charity climb

We believe that as part of the Suffolk business community, we have a duty to act responsibly and ethically. We want to make a difference to Ipswich, which is why we have key CSR initiatives focusing on sustainability and charity giving.

Our recent solar installation has allowed us to prioritise sustainable practices, and we were excited to get involved with the Suffolk Community Foundation’s Suffolk 100 club. This is a local initiative where local businesses like us pledge to donate at least £1,000 per year to the foundation. The money is then distributed to charities and voluntary organisations across the county, making a real difference to grassroots projects.

For our Lucid team, joining the Suffolk 100 club was a no-brainer.

As our Managing Director Craig Debenham says,

“We’re very proud of being a local Ipswich business, and we’ve always been committed to making the town a better place in any way possible. Signing up for the Suffolk 100 club has been our way to show our support for the community and give back to causes that benefit the people and places we serve.”

Our journey to the summit of Snowdon was worth it.

Did you know that 600,000 people climb Snowdon every single year? Our Mount Snowdon charity climb was a journey that we thoroughly enjoyed, and one that we would highly recommend to anyone.

The trip began with a group journey to Snowdonia National Park. We stayed in Porthmadog the night before, allowing enough time for all of us to get a good night’s sleep before the climb.

It was an early start, with the team up and raring to go at 5 am. We had a team talk over breakfast, covered supplies, contingency plans and the route ahead.

We chose to take the Ranger Path, which was an accessible but steady route to the summit. The morning began clear, but by halfway, the view changed dramatically as dense fog rolled in. We reached the top and spent a short, fog-wrapped moment together before heading back down.

The full round trip took just under six hours, and afterwards we celebrated with a pub lunch.

Jess Corley, our service manager, says,

“Climbing Snowdon was physically demanding and emotionally rewarding. We were in a situation where we had to focus on practical problem solving, patience and encouragement. The experience was definitely something we’re proud of and strengthened our bond as a team. We’re definitely keen to continue working with local charity initiatives, and we’re already on the hunt for the next challenge!”
