Switching to a new IT supplier made simple
Posted 14 Feb 2020
When it comes to business IT systems, you may feel that you’re
locked in with your current IT support provider. After all, they’ve set up your
systems and processes. They may even be hosting your servers - but what if it’s
not working as effectively as you think it should be?

When it comes to IT, it’s important to have a solution in
place which has the flexibility and scope to adapt to your changing needs. You
may be in a position where your business is growing quicker than anticipated.
Or perhaps you’re making changes to the way you operate. Whatever the case, you
need to feel confident that you have the right managed IT service to support
your business right now as well as in the future.
In our experience, when we speak with new clients, one of
the things we regularly hear is that they’ve been putting off moving to a new
external IT support company because they were worried it would cause disruption
to their day-to-day operations. If your business is reliant upon a functioning
computer network, then it’s easy to see how this could be a genuine concern. However,
we believe it’s important to reassure businesses that making a switch to a new
IT company is much easier than you may think.
Conducting a full system survey

At Lucid Systems, we often work with businesses that are
transitioning from a previous IT service. There may be a number of reasons why
they choose to make the switch; it could be that they are looking for more
stringent security options, perhaps they need a more affordable option or maybe
they need a bespoke IT solution. Whatever the case, the first thing we always
do as standard is to conduct a full system survey.
The survey (which is free of charge) allows us to see what
system you currently have in operation. We can assess its strengths and
weaknesses and devise a series of recommendations to help you and your business
work effectively and securely as possible. A core part of what we do is working
with our clients to ensure that they understand exactly what we are doing and
why. We know that if you’re not a qualified IT technician it can be baffling to
know what is needed, so we’ll always take the time to explain the outcomes of
our system survey in a way that you can understand.
Managing the transition
Once you’ve agreed to a solution, we’ll manage the rest of
the transition from start to finish so you can focus on your day job. We’ll
liaise with your previous supplier to coincide with the dismantling of your
former system and simultaneously install your new system. Our priority is to
set up your new system with minimal disruption to your business. Whether you
need new cables installed or a new network configured, we can do this out of
office hours so you can feel confident that when your staff comes into work,
your new system will be fully operational.
Securing your new system
Once your new IT system is in place, we can ensure that
stringent security processes are set up. This includes securing your system
from previous supplier access as well as ensuring that you have full security
systems in place against cyber threats.
Once we’ve completed the switch, you’ll be able to work far
more effectively and have full confidence that your new computer system is
working to its full capabilities.
At Lucid Systems, we work closely with clients across
Ipswich, Norwich, and Colchester (and surrounding areas) to help them become
more resilient and more productive. We firmly believe that there’s no need to
stick with a supplier or system that’s not delivering what you need.

switch to a new managed IT service then please get in touch. We’re always
happy to have an informal chat about what you need.
