Lucid Systems founder Craig has long-held a passion for IT. Despite originally beginning his career in the finance sector, as the most technically-minded of his colleagues, the operations of the office computer system quickly fell to Craig. Finding it a more interesting challenge, Craig decided to change careers. After progressing from a 1st line support engineer to Technical Director, he launched Lucid Systems in 2009.
Over the past ten years, Craig has seen an array of changes in the IT sector and he says that one of his favourite parts of his job is reacting to the continual changes caused by the fast-paced nature of IT and computers. Craig enjoys working with small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) across the East of England and says that in his view, one of the most exciting computer-related advancements over the past decade has been the improvement in UK broadband infrastructure and cloud services. He welcomes the fact that small businesses now have the capabilities to invest in corporate computer systems that were previously only available to large corporates. For businesses in regions like Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex having access to comprehensive IT systems are vital to encourage economic growth and maintain the prosperity of our local regions.
As Managing Director, Craig is responsible for business and product development as well as the day-to-day running of the company. Craig is extremely proud of the way that the company has grown, and he says that the best thing about working at Lucid Systems is seeing each member of the team continually grow and develop as well as hearing from happy, satisfied clients.
Craig leaves the technical work to his team now and applies his vast experience to helping businesses apply the best solutions to meet their needs unique needs.
When he’s not in the office, Craig is an extremely keen cyclist and can often be found exploring the Suffolk countryside on his bike. He’s also extremely active in the local community and supports charities involved in Autism awareness and research – a cause extremely close to his heart. Last year as part of his charitable efforts, Craig completed the London-Surrey 100 mile cycle event and raised £1,600 for the National Autistic Society – a fantastic achievement.
